YOUR BEST POST-WORKOUT RECOVERY MEAL: Need an idea of what to eat after exercise? Here’s what Fit Me n Cook, Kevin Curry had for a post-workout (recovery) meal to refuel and recover.
What you eat after a workout matters! The key is to follow up with meals that combine protein, which helps your muscles recover, and carbohydrates, which replenish energy stores. For best results, eat within 30 to 60 minutes after exercise, when muscles are most receptive. According to recent studies, eating during this window, increases enzyme activity and makes the body more efficient at storing glucose for energy and building protein in fatigued muscles.
THE MEAL: Skillet-grilled cod & broccolini + baked sweet potato with raw honey, cinnamon & flax seed oil + fruit cup. Cod & broccolini seasoned with garlic, cumin and pepper, cooked in a non-stick skillet with spray coconut oil.
